Workshop Assistant

Made 2 Measure Fitted Furniture Ltd - Christchurch, Dorset

Pay: 13.50-15.00 per hour (DOE)

Job Type: Part time (20-25 hours), Days to be discussed, must be able to start at 7.30am

Made 2 Measure Fitted Furniture Ltd have been manufacturing and installing bespoke fitted furniture across Dorset and Hampshire since 1991. From our workshop and showroom in Christchurch, we design and manufacture high-quality, made-to-measure fitted furniture for homes and new-build sites.

We are seeking a proactive

Workshop Assistant

to join our hardworking team. This role supports both our busy workshop and on-site fitting operations, requiring strong practical ability, good problem-solving skills, and a positive, team-focused attitude.

Job Overview

You'll play a crucial part in the smooth running of our workshop and installation schedule. This role is ideal for someone hardworking, confident with material handling, and eager to be involved across multiple areas of production.

Key Duties Fitting & On-Site Support

Deliver and offload furniture components into customer homes with fitter ready for installation Assist with preparing jobs for dispatch Proactively assist with problem solving issues as they arise on site.

Workshop Operations

Operate machinery including edge bander (training provided) Keep the workshop organised, tidy, and safe at all times

Stock & Materials Management

Load/offload deliveries and check materials against orders Manage stock control of materials Pick and pack fittings for jobs Collect materials from local suppliers as required Keep the workshop organised, tidy, and safe at all times

Production Workflow

Assist Foreman with quality checks on jobs before dispatch to fitting teams Ensure jobs are ready for fitting team but liasing with Foreman and benchhand

Experience & Requirements

Essential

Proven experience in a manufacturing, workshop, or warehouse role Confident using IT/Computer based tasks Strong practical skills and confidence using tools/machinery Physically able to assist with loading/unloading heavy materials Full UK driving licence
(Must be 25+ due to company vehicle insurance)

Team player with a proactive mindset Ability to use initiative and solve problems independently

Desirable

Forklift licence (advantageous, not essential) Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings Bedroom fitting experience a bonus
