Job Description
QTD Ltd makes premium timber cladding and decking from ThermoWood and UK-grown species. We're growing and need a hands-on Workshop Manager to run the day and work alongside the team.
The role (50% on the tools o 50% planning/quality/safety)
You'll lead the day's work
and
jump on the machines to keep production moving. All machine training is provided.What you'll do (day to day):
Set up and run machines
for planing, resawing, brushing/sanding and simple finishing.Change over jobs
(tooling/blades where required), check sizes, and keep to spec.In-process quality checks
(straightness, finish, labelling) and sign-off.Pack and label
orders ready for dispatch; keep paperwork/job cards tidy.Load/unload
timber and move stock safely (forklift training provided if needed).Basic maintenance checks
and housekeeping; report issues early.Plan the day's schedule
, brief the team, and re-prioritise when needed.Health & safety routines
(daily checks, safe shutdown, clean, secure).Keep materials topped up
(timber, coatings, consumables) and flag low stock.You'll bring
Experience supervising or leading in a workshop/production setting. Happy to be
hands-on
as part of the team, not just supervising. Practical, organised, good communicator; calm under pressure. Solid understanding of safe working (H&S).No specialist brand knowledge needed -- all training provided.What you get
40,000 salary
(annual review) Weekday daytime hours (9-5) 28 days' holiday including bank holidaysJob Type: Full-time
