Due to upcoming retirement we are seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a team, manage workshop activities, and ensure the smooth functioning of all technical processes. Duties
Supervise and coordinate workshop activities, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely
Oversee the assembly, maintenance, and repair of equipment using hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques
Interpret schematics and mechanical drawings to facilitate accurate assembly and repairs
Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before they escalate
Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or organise specialist assistance
Manage inventory levels of tools, parts, and materials required for workshop operations
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Provide training and guidance to workshop staff on proper use of tools, safety procedures, and technical processes
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status
Liaise with clients or internal departments to understand project requirements and deliver exceptional customer service
Qualifications
Proven experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of mechanical systems
Proficiency in reading schematics and mechanical drawings
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other workshop machinery
Knowledge of equipment repair, assembly processes, and routine maintenance procedures
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of daily tasks
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and team leadership
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues
Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering or related fields are desirable but not essential
