Due to an upcoming retirement we are seeking a highly organised and technically skilled Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering knowledge and excellent leadership abilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team, ensure the efficient functioning of the workforce and deliver exceptional customer service. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity across all workshop activities.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate workshop activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely
Read and interpret technical drawings to facilitate manufacture and assembly
Lead assembly projects, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards
Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before failure occurs
Oversee heavy lifting tasks as required for larger fabrications
Manage inventory levels of tools, parts and supplies necessary for workshop operations
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Provide training and mentorship to workshop staff to enhance skills in areas such as welding and fabrication
Deliver excellent customer service by addressing client needs promptly and professionally
Qualifications
Proven experience in workshop management or a similar supervisory role within a technical or manufacturing environment
Strong engineering knowledge with hands on experience in metal fabrication, welding, assembly and machining
Ability to read technical diagrams accurately
Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy lifting, machinery operation and workshop procedures
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Good communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
Relevant qualifications or certifications in engineering or related fields
