Kinetic AI is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking

Workshop Manager

to lead the day-to-day operations of our high-tech fabrication and prototyping workshop. Our environment combines

additive and subtractive manufacturing, robotics, kinetic systems, electronics, and rapid prototyping

The successful candidate will oversee workshop workflows, manage a multidisciplinary team, maintain and optimise advanced equipment, and uphold the highest standards of safety, precision, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities



Lead, supervise, and coordinate all workshop activities, ensuring tasks are executed

safely, efficiently, and to Kinetic AI's quality standards

. Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repair of

3D printers, laser systems, CNC equipment, electronics benches, and prototyping machinery

, ensuring minimal downtime. Interpret and work from

technical drawings, schematics, CAD files, and digital fabrication models

. Operate and train others on

hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (if applicable), fabrication machines, and robotic systems

. Engage in occasional heavy lifting and safe handling of materials, components, and equipment. Conduct regular inspections and implement

preventative maintenance programmes

across all workshop systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or digital fabrication issues and implement effective, timely solutions. Ensure rigorous compliance with

health, safety, and environmental regulations

, maintaining a safe and organised workspace. Manage inventory of tools, materials, spare parts, consumables, and digital files to guarantee operational continuity. Work closely with internal design, research, and engineering teams to support ongoing projects, prototypes, and experiments. Provide exceptional internal service by communicating clearly about project timelines, technical challenges, and delivery schedules.

Skills & Experience



Strong ability to read and interpret

technical drawings, schematics, fabrication layouts, and CAD models

. Hands-on proficiency with

hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment, and workshop machinery

. Solid mechanical knowledge with experience in

assembly, maintenance, calibration, and repair

of workshop equipment. Experience with digital fabrication tools (3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, robotics) is highly desirable. Skilled in troubleshooting across

mechanical, electrical, or fabrication systems

. Physical capability for safe manual handling and occasional heavy lifting. Strong organisational abilities and confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving innovation environment. Excellent communication skills for team leadership and cross-department collaboration. Previous experience in a

supervisory or workshop management role

is preferred, ideally in a fabrication lab, prototyping facility, or engineering environment.
