Job summary
Working across five Regions that cover the whole country, our delivery teams are key to helping us look after the 9% of Scotland's land area in our care and making sure our national forests and land delivers as much as it can.
Forestry and Land Scotland's East Region manages approximately 93,000 hectares of public land--from the coastal pinewoods of Moray and Fife through Aberdeenshire to Perthshire--encompassing iconic sites such as Tay Forest Park and key open habitats including blanket bog and native woodlands.
East region delivers around 22.5 million in annual income, mainly through sustainable timber harvesting and commercial leases, while also leading initiatives in peatland restoration, renewable energy developments, and woodland creation. The team is highly multidisciplinary, coordinating forestry operations, environmental planning, construction, stakeholder engagement, and recreation management across a varied landscape of commercial forests, open habitats, and recreational assets
Job description
Within this role, you'll be very much field oriented, working on site supporting the team and contractors in current operations. You'll also help the team deliver contract management requirements and provide mapping and planning updates.
Your key focus will be on ensuring our work meets stringent Health, Safety, Environmental and UKWAS requirements, as well as meeting our many customers and stakeholders needs. You will also deliver on key objectives such as climate and biodiversity objectives.
You need to be a forward-thinking team player, who can collaborate with a range of colleagues to deliver professional, timely results.
Person specification
Experience
Essential:
Experience in forestry or land -based operations;
General understanding of managing health, safety and wellbeing;
General understanding of managing environmental standards
Experience utilising IT software including Microsoft Office, mapping and handheld devices.
Desirable
Experience in supervising people;
Technical
Desirable:
Qualification in Forestry or Land Management e.g. certificate/HNC.
