Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced yard operative / forklift driver to join our expanding manufacturing team.

LCR Engineering Ltd are steel fabrication specialists in Nuclear, Structural Steel, MOD, Offshore, Sub-sea, Civil Marine, Industrial loader attachments, Materials Handling and Execution level III works. We are the UK's leading manufacturer of bespoke mobile plant machinery attachments for sectors including agriculture, recycling, construction, demolition and military.

LCR is ISO 9001:2015 accredited and maintains a Factory Production Control system that is certified in accordance with EN1090-1:2009+A1:2001 up to and including Execution level III works.

The role will involve managing the safe and efficient movement of stock and kitted jobs within our yard. This role requires someone who can work on their own initiative as well as reporting to supervisors, is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and is committed to maintaining a safe working environment when

operating 3.5T and 7T forklifts. Assisting kitting of parts, general housekeeping of the workshops and jet washing duties when required. The site processes hundreds of tonnes of steel components each week and so health and safety is a primary concern for us. As such, you will be given full training on how to operate all the necessary machinery for this role as well as manual handling and general health and safety training via toolbox talks.

Key Responsibilities



Loading & Unloading:

Safely load and unload vehicles, ensuring all material is secured correctly and processed accurately.

Stock Management:

Store stock correctly and ensure the yard remains organised, tidy, and safe.

Customer Service:

Ensure customer requirements regarding material handling are met efficiently.

Equipment Operation:

Operate Forklift Trucks (FLT) as required to move material around the site and operate other machinery as required.

Manual Handling:

Ability to carry out manual work in line with established manual handling procedures.

Maintenance & Safety:

Keep all equipment in good working order, carry out daily checks reporting any issues or faults immediately. Work strictly in accordance with all Works and Health and Safety procedures at all times.

Required Skills and Experience



Experience:

Previous experience in a heavy industry or steel environment is essential.

Qualifications:

Hold a current B1 and B2 forklift licence / certificate is a

MUST.*

Equipment Operation:

Proven experience using FLT and performing lifting and slinging.

Safety Awareness:

A strong awareness of safe vehicle loading, security, weight distribution, and Health & Safety procedures.

Loading/Unloading Expertise:

Experience loading and unloading wide loads on flatbed trailers and curtain sided trailers.

Work Ethic:

The ability to work independently using your own initiative and thrive in an outdoor work environment regardless of the weather.
