Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Yard Worker to join our team. At our stonemasonry yard in fairford, ideally a young person willing to learn , must be strong and have a good work ethic , The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard and ensuring that all materials are handled efficiently and safely. They yard is muddy and quite often wet so need to be used to working out doors . This role involves a variety of tasks including loading and unloading materials, operating machinery, and assisting sawyers and stonemasons . A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork is essential in this position.

Duties

Operate forklifts and other machinery to move materials around the yard. No license needed training will be provided . Load and unload goods from lorries, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage. using machinery to chop stone into building stone . Maintain and organisation of the yard to ensure a safe working environment. Handle materials with care, adhering to all safety protocols during lifting and transporting. Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and report any mechanical issues. Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and efficiency within the yard.

Skills

Proven experience in a warehouse environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with warehouse management systems for tracking inventory. Strong mechanical knowledge to assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required, ensuring proper techniques are used. Experience in construction or related fields is an advantage. Competence in materials handling practices to ensure safety and efficiency. Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
