Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with materials handling, loading and unloading goods, and maintaining organisation within the yard. This role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and construction-related activities, requiring a proactive approach and attention to safety standards.

Duties

Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts where qualified Assist with the organisation and storage of goods within the yard Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory movements Handle materials safely, ensuring proper stacking and storage to prevent hazards Support shipping and receiving processes by preparing items for dispatch or receipt Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment such as forklifts and mechanical tools Assist with general yard maintenance, including cleaning and organising work areas Support construction activities by moving materials as required Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

Requirements

Previous experience in warehouse management or construction environments is preferred Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of materials handling procedures Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently Good organisational skills with attention to detail Physical fitness to undertake manual tasks throughout the day Knowledge of shipping & receiving processes is beneficial Proven ability to load & unload goods safely and effectively Prior experience in construction or heavy industry environments is a plus
