174 hours per month, equivalent to 40 hours per week. flexibility required between 8am and 11pm.

On-call duties as required to meet the needs of the organisation.

Job Summary:



The Service Leader role is a leadership position responsible for supporting the Registered Service Manager and Deputy RSM in managing the daily operations of the service and leading a team of support workers. The role involves participating in the recruitment, guidance, support, and supervision of staff working within the service, ensuring the welfare of young people, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young individuals facing various challenges. The role also entails ensuring the service works to company policy and procedure and regulation.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Supervision and Leadership:



Provide strong leadership to a team of support staff, including assisting with recruitment, training, coaching, and performance evaluations (supervisions and appraisals). Foster a positive and collaborative team atmosphere, promoting teamwork and professional development. Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

2. Young Person Support and Welfare:



Oversee the care and well-being of young people, including those facing challenges like struggling with independent living, mental health issues, or substance abuse. Conduct intake assessments, develop individualised support plans, and monitor young people progress. Monitor, address and evaluate critical incidents and provide crisis intervention as needed.

3. Operations Management:



Ensure homes are well-maintained, clean, and safe for young people and support staff. Coordinate daily operations, including staff scheduling, resources allocation, and inventory management. Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to maintain facility operations.

4. Case Management and Documentation:



Supervise and assist support staff in maintaining accurate and up-to-date resident records, including progress notes and reports. Monitor case management activities and ensure that support plans are effectively implemented. Prepare and submit required reports to management and funding agencies.

5. Advocacy:



Advocate on behalf of young people to access necessary services, benefits, and resources. Assist residents with legal matters when needed and maintain knowledge of legal procedures.

6. Staff Development:



Identify training needs and provide or facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff. Conduct regular supervisions, performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

7. Community Engagement:



Build and maintain positive relationships with community organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Represent the organisation at meetings, participate in networking events, and collaborate on community initiatives with community organisations.
As a Service Leader, you play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and success of both young people and staff. This leadership position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to handle complex situations, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals facing adversity.

Qualification/Experience/Skills/Person Specification

:

A Level 3 diploma Health & Social Care or Residential Childcare desirable. A level 5 diploma Leadership & management or the ability to work towards. Significant experience working with young people, especially those facing challenges like homelessness, mental health issues, or substance abuse. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a similar setting. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of local resources and support services for young people. Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.
