Rate of Pay:

27,500 - 29,500 per annum (Dependant on relevant experience and qualifications)

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week (To include regular evening sessions)

Contract Type:

Work Base:

Multi site throughout Amber Valley and occasional work around Chesterfield, Buxton, High Peak and surrounding areas



Purpose & Scope




"To play a key role in developing and delivering youth work provision through our local youth hubs and project locations across Amber Valley, Chesterfield, Buxton, High Peak & surrounding areas, so that we effectively engage with disadvantaged & marginalised young people, promoting their wellbeing and leaving a lasting impact on their lives and future prospects."

Specific Duties & Responsibilities



Delivery



To be involved in the ongoing development and delivery of youth work provision for young people which actively facilitates their participation and is designed to promote their personal and social development. To work closely with the wider youth work team in the development of creative, inclusive and needs-led programme plans, assuming shared responsibility for maintaining the quality and effectiveness of youth work provision. To work effectively in a range of youth work delivery contexts across various locations including open drop-in sessions, project-based delivery, community projects, detached work, 1:1 mentoring, residentials etc. To function as the 'Worker-in-Charge' when required, conducting yourself as a role model in youth work practice, providing practice-based support to other staff/volunteers as required. To take a shared responsibility for the care, upkeep and management of Blend Youth Project premises, equipment and resources, ensuring that routine practices and procedures are implemented and adhered to.

Networking & Partnerships



To build and maintain effective relationships with other agencies and professionals in the interests of sharing resources, raising the project's profile and maximising opportunities to work collaboratively in responding to the needs of young people. To demonstrate a commitment to fostering positive connections with local communities within which our work is located. To be consistently prompt & professional in your approach to communication with partner agencies and wider stakeholders.

As Part of the Wider Valley CIDS/Blend Youth Project Team



To uphold and promote the ethos and values of Valley CIDS/Blend Youth Project at all times. To attend and contribute to team meetings as required. To develop a good knowledge of the wider context of the organisation's projects & services. To be involved in Valley CIDS and Blend Youth Project promotional events. To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities appropriate to the level of the post.

Skills



Essential



Ability to communicate effectively with young people & adults. Ability to work effectively with young people in individual & group contexts. Ability to develop effective and creative learning and development activities, resources, schemes of work and session plans. Effective ICT skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office software.

Knowledge



Essential



Knowledge of lesson/session planning for learning and to meet identified learning criteria & accredited outcomes. Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures.

Desirable



Knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunities practices.

Experience



Essential



Experience of youth work practice in a range of settings and contexts with individuals and groups of young people, including street-based delivery. Experience of working with vulnerable and marginalized young people Experience of responding effectively & empathetically to challenging behaviour. Experience of planning, evaluating, and reviewing work with young people.

Qualifications & Training



Essential



Qualified to degree level in a relevant field of study. Current/relevant CPD record & willingness to undertake further training opportunities.

Desirable



Nationally recognized JNC Youth Work qualification, with a minimum of two years post qualifying experience.

Other Requirements



Essential



A full UK Driving License & access to appropriate transport to enable travel within the duties & responsibilities of the post. A commitment to working regular unsocial hours, including regular evenings.
