To work with the young people, staff and volunteers of BYPC in developing the work and
vision of the charity. To focus on the wellbeing and development of young people, with the
support of the Centre Manager and volunteers, both at the Youth Centre (called 'The Hut')
and in the Braintree area. To promote, develop and support the work, vision, values and
culture of BYPC.
BYPC is a Christian organisation, creating a caring and safe community in which young
people are respected, valued and offered opportunities.
Essential personal qualities:
A practising Christian. For the purposes of this role we understand this to
mean the person being actively involved in the on-going life of a congregation as a
member (or equivalent) and attending church for worship at least twice every
month.
In full agreement with the vision and values of BYPC; passionate about
upholding and fulfilling them.
An excellent communicator who enjoys working with young people from all
walks of life.
Able to inspire and motivate other staff members and volunteers,
encouraging and supporting them in their work with young people and personal
development within their role, to ensure that BYPC is fulfilling its vision.

training opportunities.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Work with the young people that BYPC seeks to reach and support, building
relationships and supporting them.
Work creatively to attract additional young people to sessions and activities.
Identify and make the most of resources and opportunities on behalf of the
young people and the charity.
Always seek, facilitate and resource the development of the young people
personally, educationally, emotionally, relationally and, where appropriate,
spiritually.
Prepare, run and facilitate provision of youth sessions, programmes and
events throughout the year (including trips and residential activities).
Tidying up after sessions, programmes and events for the young people.
People
Work constructively with all those involved with BYPC to best fulfil the role of
Youth Worker and the vision and values of the charity.
Identify and facilitate opportunities for training for volunteers and other staff
members to better serve the young people and the vision of the charity.
Manage and train volunteers, identifying and facilitating possible increased
responsibility and helping them to develop their roles.
Facilitate and participate in positive relationships with all people involved in
the life of the charity: young people, volunteers, staff, Board members, partners and
churches.
Administration
Take part in gathering information relating to the work of the charity and the
involvement of young people for evidence and fundraising.
Work in partnership with the Centre Manager, Board, volunteers and other
staff to be as effective as possible in the delivering the vision of the charity.
Attend external meetings as necessary for the good of the charity and the
young people.
Build positive partnerships and relationships wherever possible, both inside
and outside of the charity, to further the vision of the charity.
With the support of the Centre Manager, keep good records and resources so
that others might be enabled to understand and undertake the work of the Youth
Worker as necessary (e.g. in the case of sickness or an end to the role).
Ensure all safeguarding or behaviour concerns are logged as soon as possible
on CPOMS
Communication
Update social media and facilitate its use in relation to young people and
other partners.
Clearly and positively communicate with volunteers, staff members and the
Board.
Produce and maintain case studies relating to the work of the charity to help
in funding and marketing.
In partnership with the Centre Manager, reach out to local schools to create
and develop a relationship, with the view to provide support for some of their
students.
Board
Work constructively with the Board to best fulfil the role of Youth Worker
and the vision and values of the charity.
Provide regular feedback to the Board, including reports to each Board
meeting (normally monthly), the AGM and on on-going projects as necessary.
Work with the Board to adopt and improve relationships with churches,
supporters and other partners.
Support members of the Board in the fulfilment of their responsibility as
necessary.
Terms and Conditions:
DBS:
This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
Hours:
20 hours per week.
The job requires flexibility, since the work of the charity with young people is determined by their availability.
Salary:
15,600 actual.
Pension:
Pension will be provided in line with Government legislation as appropriate.
Annual Leave:
Statutory paid annual leave of 132 hours.
Probationary period:
3 months
Driving licence
It is essential to hold a valid driving licence and be willing to undertake training to drive a mini bus in order to transport the young people to certain trips.
