Active Outreach Services (AOS) provides alternative education, mentoring and life-skills support to young people with additional needs. We are seeking a calm, patient and reliable

Youth Worker/Mentor

to support a 16-year-old with mild learning difficulties as they work towards independence.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting young people, can provide structure, and is confident guiding a teen through life skills and next-step planning.

About the Role

You will work 1:1 with a young person (16+) to support them with:

Life skills development Confidence-building Basic organisation routines Searching for jobs, apprenticeships or training opportunities Exploring college options and enrolment dates Creating simple action plans and goals Light mentoring and check-ins Encouraging independence Providing positive routines and structure
Sessions may be delivered:

in the community (local area) at agreed public spaces

What We're Looking For

Experience working with young people (school, youth work, SEN, mentoring, support work or similar) Calm, patient and encouraging approach Good communication skills Ability to motivate and guide teenagers Reliable and consistent Able to complete simple session notes Knowledge of apprenticeships, jobs or college pathways is helpful but not essential

Sessions arranged weekly with the parent

Pay

18phr

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 15 per week
