Job Details
Fife Council Community Learning and Development Team are looking for a Youth Worker for a Junior Youth Club based at Raeburn Centre, Kirkcaldy.
Working in a small team to plan, organise and evaluate general activities such as arts and crafts sessions, sports events, team challenges, the youth club will operate on a Thursday, in the evening, 40 weeks per year, during school term times. During school holidays there are daytime excursions offered which you would be expected to organise and attend.
The post on offer is a permanent post offered on a salary range of 323,783.40 to 324,890.91 per year pro rata, normal working hours would be 2 hours per week.

The Person
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the planning and development of a new youth club aimed at Junior Youth Work and supporting young volunteers.

  • Engage with young people by actively listening and encouraging questions, checking for understanding and challenging any unrealistic views to those based on unfounded information in a positive way
  • Promote a positive health and wellbeing message which includes participation in physical activities and an awareness of mental and sexual health issues
  • Deliver health-based discussion groups and activities as well as completion of health based project work and peer education programmes
  • Develop open, honest and trusting relationships to provide opportunities for growth and development in a supportive environment by providing planned and spontaneous informal learning opportunities and peer interaction such as thematic discussions, project work and team challenges
  • Encourage young people to participate in group discussions and group activities that promote acceptance and understanding of others and equality of opportunities for all
  • Consult with young people to ensure that their views, opinions and ideas are included in local community planning arrangements by using questionnaires, discussions groups, online activities and the Fife Young People's Panel
