1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Reception (Barnet )

Start Date: 11th September | Full-Time | 95-100 per day

A warm and inclusive primary school in Barnet is looking to appoint a committed and nurturing

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

to support a Reception pupil with newly identified high needs. This is a full-time role starting in September.

About the Pupil

The pupil has recently been awarded an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and will be joining the school for the first time this term. Their primary areas of need include:

Speech and language difficulties

Sensory processing needs

Mild emotional regulation challenges

They will require a patient, structured, and responsive adult to support their transition into school life and help them engage with early learning in a meaningful and secure way.

Role Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's communication and sensory profile. Facilitate play-based learning and emotional development in line with Reception EYFS expectations. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and speech and language therapists. Help establish calm routines and encourage positive behaviour using supportive strategies.

Candidate Requirements

Experience supporting children with speech and language and/or sensory needs, ideally in an EYFS or KS1 setting. A caring and adaptable approach with a strong understanding of early childhood development. Confidence in working with children adjusting to a new school setting. Ability to follow personalised strategies to support regulation and engagement.
