The Role



We are urgently recruiting a committed and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with an EHCP. The pupil has ASD and learning needs, with no physical needs. This is a

long-term, permanent position

within Vara Sports and Education, not a day-to-day supply role.

You will work

every afternoon

in one of our partner primary schools in Ellesmere Port, providing consistent support, helping the child access learning, regulating emotions and building confidence. We are looking for someone patient, proactive and able to build strong, positive relationships.

Salary & Contract Information



This is a permanent, part-time afternoon role paid on an

annualised salary

.
Your salary for this academic year is based on the

remaining weeks of the academic year

and is then

spread evenly across the months

, ensuring stable monthly pay.

From

September 2026

, you will move onto a

full annual salary

, covering the full academic year plus paid school holidays.

Essential Qualities



Experience supporting SEND pupils (ASD preferred) Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent Confidence delivering 1:1 or small-group work Positive, resilient and child-focused approach Strong communication skills with staff, parents and professionals Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one Commitment to long-term consistency (this is vital for the child)

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport for the Pupil



Build a trusting and supportive relationship Provide 1:1 support in line with the pupil's EHCP Assist with learning, transitions and emotional regulation Use ASD strategies such as visual timetables and structured routines Promote independence and engagement Support communication and social interaction Follow behaviour and sensory plans set by SENCO

Support for Teaching Staff



Prepare adapted resources Provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO Follow SEND, behaviour and safeguarding policies Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals

Support for the School



Help create a safe and structured learning environment Support with class-based needs when required Maintain confidentiality and follow all safeguarding, health and safety and data protection policies
