JOB TITLE: CLIENT MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To manage a portfolio of clients and be the focal point internally and externally on those clients, as the main point of contact. To help implement the company's strategies under the direction of the Head of Client Services. To promote our purpose, vision, mission, and principles to all our stakeholders.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

This is a role of rapid development, confidently managing a team, reviewing work prepared by juniors, and building on your exposure to client advisory services. We want you to be comfortable running client meetings and presenting information, managing leads and opportunities in your client base and onboarding new clients.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

You will be supported directly by the Practice Manager and Directors, and can draw on the expertise of our Tax and Accounting teams to help you learn as you grow your technical and soft skills with our internal development plan. We also love to support employees wishing to continue studying both soft and technical skills.

You will have access to assistants to utilise and assist you in delivering a first-class service to all of your clients.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supervising a team of juniors/apprentices, allocating resources to new work and prioritising jobs Managing your team's workflow, billing, and workload Onboarding and training team members and apprentices Providing reporting and analytics on your team Hitting internal utilisation and budget targets
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Overseaing accurate and complete bookkeeping to the trial balance Completing and submitting VAT returns Managing a portfolio of clients and working to build that portfolio - including all elements of workflow, billing, and quality control Monthly and annual payroll and P11D submissions Maintaining complete and accurate client records Prepare management reports including Month End journals and reconciliations Accounts preparation for Limited companies, Sole Traders, and Partnerships at least to draft stage Regular and proactive client contact, building client relationships Key performance criteria is being able to organise and manage a portfolio of clients, and work with the wider team to meet internal and external deadlines Dealing with external bodies such as HMRC Delegating to and supervising junior staff
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

You will need a minimum of 10 years' good practice experience, preferably ACCA or ACA Qualified, however, experienced and seasoned Bookkeepers can also apply . Excellent knowledge of UK VAT, bookkeeping to trial balance, fixed assets management, period-end adjustments, journals and providing basic to intermediate level tax advice. Preparing and reviewing final accounts, tax returns and working papers. You will have the support of a junior team and management, so you must be able to prioritise, delagate and ask for help when needed. It is vital you have the ability to manage a portfolio from day 1 and gain client confidence.

Excellent working knowledge of software, tools, and applications within the Accounting Industry, in particular, Xero and TaxCalc would be advantageous.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

As this is a client facing role, you will need to be confident and presentable and possess good communication skills. And as a central member of the TFA team, you will be comfortable both leading and taking direction.

ACCA qualified, finalist, or equivalent Personal and corporate tax knowledge Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service A team approach, effective communication with clients and colleagues Meticulous attention to detail Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office and accounting software, experience of Xero, TaxCalc, and Sage software is an advantage Able to work and communicate clearly and regularly with others to achieve goals Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience of managing others an advantage It would be ideal, but not essential, for the candidate to have experience with clients in media, creative, fashion, branding/PR and digital/technology industries.
