We're seeking a highly organised and commercially aware
Finance Manager
to oversee our financial operations within the
construction sector
. This is a critical role within the business, combining core finance functions with hands-on
bookkeeping, accounting, and credit control
, all tailored to the demands of a busy construction environment.

About the Role:
You'll take full responsibility for the financial management of ongoing projects, supporting operational teams and directors with accurate reporting and financial insight. You'll manage everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to credit control and month-end reporting, ensuring smooth financial processes across the board.
Key Responsibilities:
Full management of the finance function, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow
Preparation of monthly management accounts, project cost tracking, and financial forecasts
Credit control - actively chasing overdue payments and maintaining positive cash flow
Oversee subcontractor payments and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) compliance
Support payroll processes, VAT returns, and HMRC submissions
Liaise with project managers to monitor budgets, job costing, and profitability
Collaborate with external accountants and auditors as required
Ensure compliance with financial controls, industry standards, and internal procedures
What We're Looking For:
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or similar)
Proven experience in the
construction industry
or a related sector
Solid bookkeeping and credit control experience
Working knowledge of CIS, retention management, and project-based accounting
Proficient in accounting software (Xero, Sage, or industry-specific tools)
Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and support operational teams with financial insight
