Responsibilities:
- Scan all incoming correspondence into patients records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain scanning efficiency and organisation of scanning
-Examine clinical records for missing information
-Assign industry recognised codes
-Ensure clinical coding guidelines are complied with and all clinical codes are current.
-Collaborate with clinical colleagues and other healthcare professionals toe snsure information accuracy
-Code and file medical records . letters, reports etc using Docman or a similar system
-Ensure security and confidentiality of patient information is always maintained and that the practice confirms to the requirements of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott guidelines.
-Communicate all urgent problems to the Operations Manager as quickly as possible including any relevant information.
-Ad hoc administrative duties as delegated by your line manager or the Practice Manager
-Deal with patient queries on the telephone , e.g regarding referrals and appointment's
-Booking of patient transport where requested
-Liaise with other staff in the Practice and with hospital secretaries/ consultants on behalf of patients.
-Action messages and information for clinical staff as appropriate
-Action tasks from Doctors and staff where appropriate
-Sending clinical information to patients, community services and hospitals as requested
-Work at any of our sites as requested
-Provide cover for other secretarial staff during periods of sickness and annual leave
Attend Staff meetings, training and other meetings as considered necessary
-Undertake any other duties as requested by the Operations Manager commensurate with responsibilities of the post
-Process EMIS documents with OOH and discharge summary details for patients
