JOB DESCRIPTION - Apprentice Nursery Practitioner



Quaification:

To apply you must hold NVQ Level 2 in Childcare

Purpose of Post:



To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children in the setting.

To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn.

To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children's needs to be met.

To maintain high standards and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage

Responsible to:



Nursery Manager/Deputy

Main Duties and Responsibilities



You will be responsible for your key children and gain strong parent partnerships. You will contribute towards creating a fun, nurturing and stimulating environment for learning and support the children with their everyday needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To ensure children's welfare and safety are your primary concern.

To maintain high standards throughout the setting, implementing all policies and procedures at all times.

To ensure good practices are implemented regarding health and safety and hygiene.

To be aware of the Child Protection policy and know what to do if a suspicion arises.

To encourage child development through effective, age appropriate activities and play. Over time, to share responsibility with manager for a small group of 'Key Children', supporting her with observations and folders.

To liaise with parents/carers on a regular basis.

To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy environment.

To learn to be aware of the fire precautions and procedures and know your specific role in case of an emergency.

To learn to have a clear understanding of all dietary requirements and allergies.

To display children's work, ensuring displays are labelled, neat and changed on a regular basis.

To attend regular staff meetings to ensure we maintain a professional, caring and consistent service and attend any training deemed necessary to develop your career and improve performance.

To work as part of a team but also use own initiative. To be willing to undertake Level 3 Children's Learning and Development (Early Years Educator). You will not be expected to take full Key Worker responsibility until induction training and support has been provided.

Future prospects:



This is a permanent role during which an apprenticeship will be delivered with the possibility of full time employment following successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Earliest shift will start be 7:30am and the latest finish 6.00pm. If you are reliant on public transport, please bare this in mind. The Address for the positon will be Olive Tree Day Nursery, 59 and 61 Coopers Road, Handsworth Wood, Birmingham B20 2JU.
