Job Description

As an

Apprentice

Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This is a hands-on learning role where you will gain practical experience while studying towards a recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying.

Who we are looking for

:

Strong numerical and analytical skills. Good communication and interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and a methodical approach. Eagerness to learn and develop professionally. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other basic IT tools. GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above). A-Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications (desirable). Eligibility to enrol in a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship programme (Level 4 or Degree Apprenticeship).

Role and responsibilities;



What your role will include

:

Commercial Support



Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents. Support the measurement and valuation of works, including site visits and take-offs. Help manage subcontractor procurement, including issuing enquiries and analysing quotations. Assist in the preparation and submission of applications for payment and final accounts.

Contract Administration



Support the administration of contracts, including NEC and bespoke forms. Help monitor project costs and progress against budgets. Assist in identifying and valuing variations and Compensation Events. Contribute to the preparation of cost reports and forecasts.

Collaboration & Communication



Work closely with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors. Attend site meetings and contribute to commercial discussions. Liaise with suppliers and clients under supervision

Learning & Development



Attend college/university as required and complete coursework on time. Participate in internal training and mentoring programmes. Maintain a development log and seek feedback to improve performance.

Career Progression:



Successful apprentices may progress to Assistant Quantity Surveyor roles and continue towards full chartership (e.g., RICS or CICES) with continued support and training.
