Ofsted Quality Manager
to lead our internal quality assurance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure full compliance with Ofsted's
Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
and
DfE funding rules
.
Purpose of the Role
The Apprenticeship Ofsted Quality Manager will lead KBC's quality assurance strategy and ensure all apprenticeship programmes meet or exceed Ofsted and DfE expectations.
This includes ownership of the
Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
,
Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
, internal quality cycle, teaching and learning audits, and preparation for Ofsted inspection.
The role is both
strategic and hands-on
, requiring someone who can lead mock inspections, train staff, analyse performance data, and drive cultural change towards excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Ofsted Preparation and Quality Framework
Lead the college's Ofsted inspection readiness under the
Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
.
Maintain and continually update the
Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
and
Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
.
Conduct
mock deep dives
,
curriculum intent reviews
, and
learning walks
to ensure KBC meets inspection standards.
Advise the Managing Director and Curriculum Leads on key improvement priorities in preparation for inspection.
2.
Quality Assurance and Improvement
Oversee KBC's
Quality Assurance Strategy
for apprenticeships and ensure consistent application across all standards.
Develop and maintain the annual
Quality Cycle
, ensuring timely audits, observations, and reviews are completed.
Conduct
teaching, learning, and assessment observations
and provide developmental feedback to tutors and coaches.
Coordinate internal standardisation and moderation activities to ensure consistency of assessment and feedback.
Use learner progress and achievement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
3.
Regulatory Compliance and Governance
Ensure compliance with
ESFA funding rules
,
Ofsted EIF
,
Ofqual
, and
awarding body
standards.
Lead on
internal audit processes
for learner files, APTEM records, and ILR data accuracy.
Work closely with the
Compliance Manager
to maintain robust evidence for funding and audit purposes.
Ensure that all delivery complies with KBC's
Safeguarding
,
Prevent
,
Equality & Diversity
, and
British Values
policies.
4.
Staff Development and Performance
Provide training and CPD for delivery staff on Ofsted expectations, pedagogy, assessment, and feedback.
Support new tutors, assessors, and coaches in understanding KBC's quality expectations and standards.
Lead quality meetings, disseminate good practice, and monitor progress against action plans.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and constructive challenge.
5.
Monitoring, Reporting and Analysis
Produce regular
Quality Performance Reports
for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governance Board.
Track learner progression, achievement rates, employer feedback, and learner voice data.
Analyse data to identify risks or patterns in retention, progress, or achievement.
Present recommendations and improvement plans with measurable outcomes.
6.
Safeguarding, Welfare and Learner Experience
Act as a deputy DSL (if qualified) and support safeguarding audits.
Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, and wellbeing are embedded throughout curriculum delivery.
Oversee learner feedback mechanisms (surveys, focus groups, exit interviews) and implement responsive improvements.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all teaching and learning practices.

Demonstrable improvements in learner satisfaction and progress tracking metrics.
Essential Criteria
Proven experience as a Quality Manager, Ofsted Lead, or equivalent within an apprenticeship or FE environment.
Strong knowledge of the
Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
and
ESFA funding rules
.
Experience managing
SAR
,
QIP
, and internal quality assurance cycles.
Excellent understanding of curriculum planning, teaching observation, and learner progress tracking.
Experience using
APTEM
,
Smart Assessor
, or equivalent apprenticeship management systems.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
Teaching qualification:
PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent.
Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)
qualification.
Experience in one or more of KBC's core areas:
Project Management
,
Marketing
, or
Business
.
Experience in managing or contributing to successful Ofsted inspections.
