Reporting to: Production Manager
Are you a motivated leader with a passion for driving production performance and team development? We're looking for an Area Leader to join our dynamic production team in Clitheroe. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in optimising production, maintaining high product quality, and leading a high-performing team.
About the Role
As an Area Leader, you'll take ownership of a production area, leading by example and ensuring operational excellence across efficiency, quality, people development, health & safety, and environmental standards. You'll work cross-functionally to deliver production targets, continuously improve performance, and support a culture of high standards and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Lead and support production teams to ensure engagement, productivity, and adherence to standards.
Ensure effective shift handovers, start-ups, and changeovers according to SOPs.
Execute the production schedule using Short Interval Control and daily operating routines.
Identify and escalate issues relating to process, equipment, quality, and safety.
Improve OEE by identifying bottlenecks and supporting problem-solving initiatives.
Provide cover for Shift Managers when required and manage unplanned team absences.
Ensure compliance with SOPs and maintain an up-to-date training matrix.
Drive continuous improvement using lean tools such as 5S and Practical Problem Solving.
Monitor and confirm adherence to operational, safety, quality, and people standards.
What We're Looking For At least 2-3 years' experience in the food manufacturing industry.
Level 3 Food Safety and knowledge of HACCP, allergens, and food processing systems.
Strong leadership, people, and change management skills.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and IT skills.
A relevant qualification in food manufacturing or a related field is preferred.
Role Scope & Working Conditions Responsible for a production team of 40-80 people.
Collaborate with NPD, commercial, and technical teams on trials and process improvements.
Involves work in chilled and ambient environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Occasional travel to other factories, suppliers, or customers may be required
