Assistant Bar Manager - Role Overview
As an Assistant Bar Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the bar. You will assist the Bar Manager in supervising day-to-day operations, managing staff, maintaining high standards of service, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role requires a hands-on approach, a strong sense of leadership, and the ability to handle both operational and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management:
Supervise, support, and motivate bar staff to ensure a high level of performance and a positive team atmosphere. Assist with training and scheduling, and step in to resolve conflicts when necessary.
Customer Service:
Deliver outstanding customer service by creating a welcoming environment. Handle customer inquiries and complaints efficiently and professionally to ensure guest satisfaction.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee the daily operations of the bar, ensuring all areas are clean, safe, and fully stocked. Act as a key holder and take charge in the absence of the Bar Manager.
Stock Management:
Conduct regular stock takes, monitor inventory levels, and place orders as needed. Maintain accurate records and manage stock rotation to reduce waste and ensure freshness.
Cash Handling:
Handle cash, card payments, and reconcile tills at the end of shifts. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and comply with company procedures.
Line Cleaning & Maintenance:
Ensure that beer lines are cleaned regularly and equipment is well maintained to meet hygiene and safety standards.
Event Promotion:
Collaborate with management to plan, promote, and execute club events. Use social media and in-venue advertising to increase attendance and customer engagement.
Administrative Tasks:
Assist with scheduling, payroll reporting, health and safety compliance, and any other administrative duties as required.
Key Skills & Attributes
Computer literate with proficiency in standard office software and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Strong leadership qualities and a sense of authority to manage staff and operations effectively.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with a capacity to prioritize tasks under pressure.
Creative and proactive approach to advertising and promoting events.
A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
