THE ROLE:
We are recruiting an Assistant Duty Shift Manager to support the Duty Shift Manager in the day-to-day running of a busy retail park environment.
This is a hands-on, operational role where the successful candidate will be actively involved in:
Site cleaning and presentation
Routine site patrols
Coordinating cleaning teams, dual-role staff, and security officers
Supporting shift operations and standards across the site
Although a valid SIA CCTV licence is required, this role is not a security guarding position.
The primary focus is site operations, cleanliness, safety, and staff coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Cleaning Duties (Core Function)
Carry outhands-on cleaning duties across the retail park
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and safety
Litter picking, bin management, and waste area checks
Operate cleaning machinery, including:
Ride-on sweepers
Walk-behind scrubber dryers
Jet washers
Identify defects, spillages, or hazards and ensure appropriate action is taken
Site Patrols & Shift Oversight
Conduct routine site patrols throughout the shift to:
Monitor cleanliness and presentation
Identify safety issues, defects, or maintenance concerns
Ensure public areas are safe and well-managed
Act as a visible operational presence on site
Escalate issues identified during patrols to the Duty Shift Manager
Patrols are focused on site condition, safety, and operational standards, not enforcement-based guarding.
Assistant Duty Shift Manager Responsibilities
Support the Duty Shift Manager with daily site operations
Assist in managing and coordinating:
Cleaning teams
Dual-role operatives
Security officers
Help ensure staff are deployed correctly and following site procedures
Act as a point of contact for operational queries during the shift
Support handovers, reporting, and basic incident documentation
Step in to support shift continuity when required, within agreed authority
Use CCTV systems when required for:
Incident review
Monitoring specific areas
Supporting operational or management investigations
Complete reports in line with site and company procedures
CCTV monitoring is not the primary function of this role.
Essential Requirements
Valid SIA CCTV Licence (mandatory)
Previous cleaning experience (essential)
Comfortable with hands-on cleaning and site patrols
Experience coordinating or supervising staff (preferred)
Confident working independently and supporting shift management
Basic IT skills for CCTV and reporting

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
You must be able to provide a checkable 5-year employment and address history for vetting purposes (this can include full-time education or periods when claiming benefits).
