Job Description

Shrigley Hall Hotel is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to join our team on a 9-month maternity cover contract. This role is critical in supporting the finance function and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Financial Controller, you will be responsible for performing accounting tasks up to trial balance, including:

Posting invoices accurately and promptly. Managing the purchase ledger, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and reconciled. Updating and posting revenue journals. Preparing and processing accruals and prepayments. Performing bank postings and ensuring timely bank reconciliations. Supporting the Financial Controller with month-end processes and reporting requirements.

What We're Looking For:

Accounting experience is essential, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment. Strong understanding of accounting processes. Highly self-motivated, with a methodical and logical approach to work. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Proficient in using accounting software and MS Excel. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines in a busy environment.

Contract Details:

Duration: 9 months (maternity cover). Hours: Full-time (Monday-Friday, with some flexibility if required).
