What You'll Do
Care That Transforms Lives
Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families and professionals, creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
Work closely with children to understand their unique needs, implementing personalised care plans that help them grow and thrive.
Be a positive role model, guiding children through challenges and celebrating their successes.
Act as a key worker for specific children, advocating for their needs and collaborating with families, schools, and external agencies.
Leading by Example
Assist the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home and provide strategic support in achieving service development goals.
Take delegated responsibility for management duties, including supervising shifts, attending panels, and ensuring consistent staffing coverage.
Oversee and contribute to all audits, inspections, and regulatory visits, maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance.
Provide guidance and feedback to staff, helping them to grow and develop in their roles.
Champion our mission and values, ensuring they are reflected in every aspect of our work.
Keeping Things Running Smoothly
Provide formal supervision and performance management to care staff, supporting professional growth and a culture of continuous learning.
Identify training needs, facilitate inductions, and promote reflective practice across the team.
Uphold and model our values, embedding them into the service's ethos and daily practice.
Quality Assurance and Safeguarding
Monitor safeguarding practices and work proactively to promote a culture of safety and vigilance.
Ensure that all care documentation, including care plans and risk assessments, are up-to-date and reviewed regularly.
Support the home in consistently meeting the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
What we need
Qualifications and Education
QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare/Level 3 Diploma Children and Children's Workforce or equivalent. (essential)
Level 5 Diploma?in children, Young People and Families manager - residential care (or willingness to work towards).
Experience
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a residential children's care setting.
At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a similar environment.
Knowledge and understanding
Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Single Social Care Inspection Framework (SSCIF), Children Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Care Standards Act 2000, Children Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2024, Health and Safety at work and associated guidance and regulation.
Policies and procedures pertaining to running a residential children's home.
Child protection, safeguarding children, impact of abuse and neglect, education, and health needs of looked after children, equality and diversity and children's rights.
Care and placement planning, risk, and review processes.
Understanding of the education, health, social, emotional, and psychological needs of looked after children and Children and how to ensure these needs are met.
