What this role entails



Setting up and running test rigs for bioreactors and downstream processing units under instruction from project managers and 'chipping in' where necessary across the company to accelerate the R&D and Engineering workplans. Being the source of knowledge and support for certain items of equipment. Working with other technicians with a range of expertise to maintain a professional, clean and safe working environment.

Objectives



Support bioprocess development work by preparing inputs (cells and media) and running upstream and downstream test systems. Maintain or modify equipment to improve quality and productivity. Run and maintain the bioprocessing lab to a high standard. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Work closely with your team to identify and address technical issues as they arise.
Selection criteria

1) Experience



At least one year working in biotechnology or food & beverage R&D or manufacturing.

2) Delivering for an organisation



Experience of responsibility for managing the day-to-day running of several items of equipment or entire labs

3) Team working



Demonstrable ability to work with a diverse range of people, working towards a common goal in a multi-disciplinary environment. Ability to 'get to the bottom of' what a colleague really needs to solve their problems.

4) Expertise



Desirable: setting up and operating bioreactors, downstream processing units or whole bioprocess/process.

Preferable: mammalian cell culture and analysis.

Working hours



This is a full-time onsite role, working 37 hours per week. Flexibility is required to meet business needs which will include occasional weekend work on a rota basis.
