Job Description

The post holder has responsibility for the management and co-ordination of a midwifery team / clinical and specialist area. This includes the deployment, supervision and teaching of junior midwives and students. The overall objective of the post holder is to work as a clinical and managerial leader taking responsibility for the co-ordination of a team of midwives in a midwifery led birthing unit within the hospital providing low risk intrapartum and postnatal care for women and birthing people

The post holder, in conjunction with the Clinical Midwifery Manager / Modern Matron, is responsible for leading change in clinical practice, providing high quality twenty four hour midwifery care within available resources and enacting the maternity unit's risk management policy, facilitating the implementation of Clinical Governance within the maternity unit and in the community.
