We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented
Bookkeeper/Accountant
to join our growing
property development team
. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of property finance, project cost tracking, and financial compliance within the real estate or construction sectors.
You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing payments and reconciliations, and supporting the wider finance and project management teams with timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable and receivable.
Record and reconcile all financial transactions related to property developments, acquisitions, and sales.
Track project costs, budgets, and funding drawdowns.
Prepare and maintain cash flow statements and forecasts.
Process supplier invoices, contractor payments, and expense claims.
Maintain accurate ledgers and journals in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts monthly.
Assist with VAT returns, CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions, and HMRC compliance.
Support external accountants with quarterly and annual reporting.
Prepare regular financial summaries for management.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within
property development, construction, or real estate
.
Proficient in
Xero
,
QuickBooks
, or similar accounting software.
Strong understanding of
CIS
,
VAT
, and basic UK accounting standards.
Excellent attention to detail and time management.
Strong Excel skills and ability to produce clear financial reports.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
