About the Role
The
London Borough of Hackney
is seeking a skilled
Brokerage Officer
to join its
Commissioning Team
. Working closely with Service Managers, Senior Practitioners, and Care Managers, you will source, arrange, and amend packages of care, residential/nursing placements, and supported living services. This is a varied and rewarding role, dealing with complex cases while ensuring
value for money, compliance, and high-quality outcomes
for residents.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out placement brokerage across adult services (older people, learning disabilities, mental health).
Source services, including for individuals with no recourse to public funds.
Ensure accurate use of systems including
Mosaic, CM2000, and Trello
.
Negotiate with providers to identify savings and secure cost-effective placements.
Maintain accurate case records to support budget forecasting and financial accountability.
Contribute to service development, policy implementation, and market intelligence.
Support emergency and business continuity arrangements for the Brokerage function.
About You
Experience in
health or social care
, with knowledge of placements and supported living.
Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
Confident in using IT systems for monitoring and reporting.
Able to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of the
Care Act, NHS & Community Care Act, and relevant legislation
.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders and external providers.
