We are seeking a proactive and reliable Building Services Support Caretaker to join our Estates & Facilities team at our brand new Cradley Heath campus. Reporting to the Estates Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

As part of the Estates team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that our college facilities are well maintained and operational. From supporting security and maintenance to assisting with events and daily operations, this role is ideal for a practical, hands-on individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys contributing to the smooth running of a busy educational environment.

Key Responsibilities



Ensure the college is opened and closed at agreed times and maintain building security Carry out caretaking and grounds maintenance duties across the campus Supervise and support a team of cleaners Assist with the maintenance of heating systems and ensure emergency equipment is serviced Supervise and oversee any contractors working in the building and ensure they operate within the H&S requirements set by the Estates Manager Conduct regular inspections to identify and report building defects and progress repairs Undertake minor repairs to buildings, equipment, furniture, and fittings Manage the receipt and movement of goods, furniture, and materials safely Maintain accurate records of work undertaken, including incidents and repairs Assist with college events such as enrolment and open evenings Work collaboratively with staff, students, and external partners to maintain high standards Comply with all health and safety requirements and college procedures

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise



C or above in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent Relevant experience in a building services role Experience working in an educational environment or similar setting (desirable) Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable, proactive, and able to work flexibly to meet operational needs Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable) Willingness to undertake training such as Manual Handling or First Aid Will be required to attain a full DBS disclosure certificate, arranged by the College
