Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Business Development Manager to lead business development and client engagement across the Rail, Nuclear, and Construction industries. This senior role will be instrumental in sustaining our strong presence within the rail sector while driving strategic growth into emerging markets.
Reporting directly to the Sales Director, the Business Development Manager will shape and execute the sales strategy, ensure high-quality client interactions, and play a key role in the company's future growth.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and develop trusted relationships with key clients in the UK Rail Industry, including Network Rail and Tier 1 contractors.
Expand our client base and secure new business opportunities in the Nuclear and Construction sectors.
Lead the development and delivery of the company's sales strategy in line with business growth objectives.
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings to enhance visibility and market engagement.
Oversee the preparation of bids, tenders, and commercial proposals with a focus on quality and competitiveness.
Work closely with internal teams to align sales activity with production and delivery capability.
Provide regular commercial updates, market intelligence, and performance reports to senior management.
Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for partnership, diversification, or innovation.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven track record in sales leadership within an engineering, infrastructure, or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of the UK Rail Industry and its procurement landscape.
Commercially astute with the ability to win and manage major client accounts.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong organisational and strategic planning capabilities.
Willingness to travel as required throughout the UK.
Desirable:
Experience in or connections within the Nuclear or Construction sectors.
Background in delivering growth in project-led or framework-driven industries.
Technical understanding of engineered products or industrial services.
