Salary/Grade

: 76,368 - 95,000 per annum (depending on experience)

This position requires a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office when not travelling.

The opportunity



The Business Development Manager sits within the Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division. You will manage customers' projects and coordinate field pilots primarily for Construction Industries in Europe.


This role will reward you with a dynamic working environment, where innovation and a startup mindset enables solution development to support our customers in achieving their sustainability roadmap. This is a highly strategic role that relies on effective networking and exceptional interpersonal skills as there is significant interdependency across Caterpillar with key business partners.


As the Business Development Manager, you will diligently focus on executing projects, relying on a strategic perspective to assure the most relevant outcome and impact to develop and validate solutions and business models. The position often manages complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require non-traditional approaches as well as innovate.

What you will do:



Manage project deliverables and coordinate resources across the enterprise. Provide close field support for successful pilot execution. Develop electrification/job site solutions for field pilots execution by partnering with internal teams across verticals or propose and follow-up on external business partners opportunities. Follow lean startup principles to validate business ideas and accelerate enterprise learning. Document and measure learning objectives through disciplined, fact-based methodologies. Develop technical and commercial requirements for the business ventures to be sustainable. Communicate results with key stakeholders.

What you will have:




Effective Communications - Level Working Knowledge:


Ability to communicate complex technical issues and commercial strategies to all levels of the organization and find partners to develop solutions. Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for customers, partners and executive leadership.

Customer Focus - Level Working Knowledge:


Significantly progressive job-related experience - ideally within the Construction and/or Power Generation industries. Ability to leverage customer site information in creating customized customer solutions. Research, verify and communicate customer needs and expectations and communicate them to the organization Solicits customer satisfaction feedback and acts on improvement opportunities.

Strategic Thinking - Level Working Knowledge:


Explains elements of the strategy to others and encourages questions. Monitors marketplace trends, opportunities, and vulnerabilities; reports findings. Makes sound recommendations when faced with complex and contradictory alternatives.

Relationship Management - Level Working Knowledge:


Ability to navigate and influence in a large matrix organization. Provides prompt and effective responses to customer requests and interactions to ensure customer satisfaction. Works with customer to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

Negotiating - Level Working Knowledge:


Ability to negotiate successfully with customers and partners with a constructive approach and across the organization collaboratively. Works to achieve win-win in negotiations. Uses active listening and probing techniques to surface problems, issues, and interests.

Languages:

Fluent in English, and German or French.

Additional Information:



There is a 50-70% travel requirement for this role.
