The Role



We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Business Development Manager to drive new client acquisition and help grow the agency's presence across the South West. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with prospective clients, and setting up qualified meetings for the Managing Director to attend and close.

You will also support the growth of existing accounts by identifying opportunities for additional services and helping to shape proposals with the wider team.

This is a new and important role within a growing business, with the potential to shape your own success and progress as the company expands.

Key Responsibilities



New Business Development



- Proactively identify and research prospective clients in relevant sectors across the South West
- Generate leads through networking, outreach, referrals, partnerships and traditional sales activity - Attend local events, trade shows and business forums to represent the agency
- Qualify new leads and arrange in-person or virtual meetings for the Managing Director
- Maintain and manage the agency's CRM system to track outreach and pipeline

Sales Support & Proposal Coordination



- Support the Managing Director in shaping proposals and service recommendations
- Work closely with the delivery team to ensure solutions are aligned to prospect needs - Follow up on proposals to keep momentum and answer queries ahead of closing

Client Growth Opportunities



- Work with the account management team to spot additional service opportunities within the existing client base
- Support upsell conversations by helping identify value and coordinating internal input

Market Awareness



- Stay informed about local business trends, competitors and marketing developments - Provide feedback and insights that contribute to service development and positioning

Person Specification



Essential



- Proven experience in business development, lead generation or B2B sales (preferably in marketing, creative, digital or agency environments)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence in networking and representing a business in a professional environment

- Organised, self-motivated and results-focused
- Ability to understand marketing and digital services (e.g. Google Ads, social media, web design) and communicate their value

Desirable



- Knowledge of the Cornwall/South West business landscape - Familiarity with CRMs and reporting tools
- Experience working in or alongside a marketing agency

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 27,000.00-30,000.00 per year
