The Faculty of Engineering hosts a number of centres, laboratories and institutes which require a mix of skills for different amounts of effort over time. The Faculty Office is standing up a matrix managed, shared services suite of roles intended to support our activities in a flexible way. This role will serve a key function in support of our academic endeavours. The role will also be part of a wider network of Strategic Alliance Directors in the faculty, under the guidance of the Vice Dean Enterprise.
About the role

This fixed term role is available for 12 months in the first instance
The post-holder will provide high-level strategic and operational support to develop business opportunities for the Centres/Institutes to which they are assigned. This will involve pitching to senior executives, understanding contracts/IP, and developing new business in a technological environment. For the initially funded year of this post, effort will be primarily focused on supporting an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) in Neuromorphic Computing Hardware under the leadership of Professor Tony Kenyon.
The post-holder will require skills in project and budget management, business planning, reporting and networking with internal and external, current and potential, project stakeholders. The position requires a post-holder who is able to network effectively with a wide range of people.

About you

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
Undergraduate degree in an engineering or STEM subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
Experience of coordination and management of multi-stakeholder projects.
Experience of developing commercial impact from R&D outputs.
Proven experience of developing business opportunities in a technology environment.
Ability to identify client needs and design engagement opportunities that align with institutional objectives.
