The majority of the product stocked in our Covent Garden shop is also available online at (Furniture and made-to-order prints are only available online)

Overview of project/role

Reporting directly into the Museum\xe2\x80\x99s Retail Buyer, this role is responsible for the Buying Team\xe2\x80\x99s administrative tasks, such as setting up products on our Electronic Point of Sale system (EPOS) and ensuring accurate product descriptions are given to the Online Shop Team for product set ups. This role will also have some buying and product development responsibilities as required by the Buyer. Some administrative tasks will also be set by the Merchandiser, Ecommerce Manager and the wider Buying and Merchandising Team.

The trading profit London Transport Museum (LTM) retail secures helps to fund the Museum\'s valuable education and heritage work. As Buying Assistant you will help to grow our sales by assisting in the development of sector leading retail ranges that are uniquely LTM.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the processing of all data on LTM\xe2\x80\x99s EPOS system, which would include the setup of new product lines, price changes, promotions and product amendments as instructed by the Buyer and Merchandiser - to ensure good inventory management.
  • Responsible for the collation of product information for the Online and Covent Garden Shop to enable Online product set-ups and range crib sheets for Visitor Experience staff training.
  • Responsible for the management of product photography and ensuring images are catalogued and kept up to date on LTM drives, systems and the Online shop in order to maximize product sales.
  • To support the Buying Team in meeting annual sales targets by searching for new outstanding product ideas and suppliers to produce them for our retail ranges.
  • Responsible for running weekly and periodic sales analysis as instructed by the Merchandiser and Buying Team so sales can be interrogated, and actions made for improvement.
  • Accountable for the maintenance of up to date and accurate range plans, LTM\xe2\x80\x99s critical path document and Online shop product set up tracker to enable all members of the retail team to keep track of product launches and ensure their success.
  • Assist the Buying Team in improving the sustainability of LTM\xe2\x80\x99s product ranges, helping to research new suppliers, materials and product lines that help to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Responsible for other administrative duties required by the LTM Central Retail Team such as the setting up of new suppliers, assisting with the stock invoice review process and the documentation required for the processing of original signage for sale in our online shop.
