Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service within a vibrant cafe setting, ensuring customers have a positive experience from start to finish. Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. This is a part time position that will include weekdays and weekends therefore will not be suitable for school students

Duties

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing friendly and attentive service. Prepare a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to quality standards. Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods. Ensure all food safety standards are maintained by following hygiene protocols and cleaning schedules. Serve food and drinks to customers in a timely manner, ensuring satisfaction. Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system and provide correct change. Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment throughout shifts. Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during busy periods. Support team members during peak times to deliver seamless service.

Skills

Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards. Previous barista experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate. Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment. Basic food preparation skills to assist with menu items. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods. Basic mathematical skills for handling cash transactions accurately. Strong communication skills with a friendly and professional manner. Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a lively cafe environment while developing their skills within the hospitality industry.

Pay: 7.50-12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
