Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team at Fig & Fennel. This role is perfect for someone passionate about coffee, fresh food and connecting with people. As a Cafe Assistant you will be expected to support the manager in the day to day running of the cafe, helping oversee daily operations, create high quality coffee, assist with food preparation, serving, maintaining high standards for food safety and ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for. This position requires excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role includes the opportunity to earn tips alongside your hourly wage.

Duties:

Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment. Always ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices. Assist customers with their orders, providing exceptional service and recommendations as needed. Help maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere through teamwork, friendliness and genuine care for customers. Operate coffee machines and other equipment, demonstrating barista skills when required. Handle cash transactions accurately and work with EPOS ordering system to complete customers payments Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Assist with stock rotation, restocking, and maintaining inventory levels for both drinks and food items

Experience

Minimum 1 experience in a cafe or similar hospitality led environment is essential. Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations is highly desirable. Barista experience (preferred however not essential)

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 30 per week
