Role Summary
As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, ensuring consistent delivery of fresh, high-quality dishes in a fast-paced cafe setting. You'll take pride in your craft, lead by example, and help drive both standards and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparation, service, and stock management
Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
Train, motivate and supervise junior kitchen staff
Uphold hygiene, safety and food quality standards in accordance with food safety regulations
Assist with menu planning, costing, and ordering of stock
Ensure consistent high standards of presentation and taste
Take responsibility for kitchen organisation, cleanliness and efficiency
What We're Looking For
Proven experience as a Senior Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a similar fast-paced environment
A hands-on, can-do attitude with strong organisational and communication skills
Passion for fresh food and seasonal ingredients
Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead a small team with confidence
Flexible, reliable, and committed to high standards
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Professional Cookery preferred
Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (Level 3 desirable)
