Overview



Part Time - Thursday and Fridays (and possibly Saturday mornings) 8am-5:30pm



TERM TIME ONLY


In a busy church family on three sites, a warm welcome to those visiting the church and/or the offices is of huge importance. We also value being able to open up the church during the week as a community resource, and the cafe space helps to facilitate that, effectively providing a front of house reception to church family, hirers and members of the public alike.

As a key holder, often the first staff member in downstairs in the morning, and often last to leave in the evening.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cafe Manager to oversee the daily operations of our cafe. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background or passion for hospitality, with a focus on food safety and team management. As the Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for everyone who come through the door, while ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.

Role Purpose



To offer a quality cafe provision To extend a warm and friendly welcome to church family, service users and members of the public equally To provide a front of house, face to face reception service for the church To increase and extend the missional focus of the cafe To run activities in the cafe to increase the customer base

Day to day cafe management



Providing good quality drinks and snacks and providing excellent customer service Opening up, closing down, cashing up and monitoring float Stock management - reviewing and re-ordering supplies. Communication with suppliers, ensuring stock is out and displayed as intended Cleaning and maintenance of cafe equipment and furniture Taking in, processing payments and redistribution of cafe orders Managing the "Fill" Products

Front of House



Being a welcoming and friendly face to all guests to the cafe and the church Signposting guests with specific needs to relevant people/hirers/services The cafe is effectively the front door to the church and we have had some very exciting stories of people who have become integrated into the Church community via the cafe, so a warm, genuine welcome is essential Rough overview of who is in the building, where they might be and what activities are happening when and where Oversight of car park and liaising with car owners to arrange movement as and when required to enable other users to leave their parking space Liaising with hirers to ensure rooms are set up correctly and service users and hirer guests know where to go Building relationships with new and existing customers

Training and Staff Rotas



To train and encourage cafe staff to offer a high level of welcome and customer service and signposting to church activities Building, maintaining and communicating barista rotas Working with volunteers, work experience and Duke of Edinburgh students to help people gain experience and confidence

Kitchen



Working alongside other members of the staff team to ensure the kitchen remains clean and compliant to church policy and Hygiene standards Doing daily checks Overall dishwasher maintenance and upkeep

Business Development



Developing cafe based events program Exploring opportunities to extend the range of products offered Conducting research to identify customer and community needs Taking ownership of the management of the sales and marketing Driving increased revenue and profit to achieve the Cafe's growth

General



Key holder responsibility Liaising with and setting up for regular cafe meet-ups and events such as the cinema screenings To run "Friday Cafe on the Field" in the warm, dry months. To abide by the vision and values of St Michael's and the terms and conditions of staff employment and be prepared to help out as needed To keep up to date with training
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.69 per hour

Expected hours: 18 per week
