Summary
'Deputy Manager' position at Peacemills Care Home offers a rewarding opportunity to lead our dedicated team. As Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional care delivery aligned with our values of compassion and excellence.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of the care home, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
Support the management team in developing and implementing care plans tailored to residents' needs.
Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
Ensure medication administration and health protocols are strictly followed.
Lead initiatives to improve quality of care and resident satisfaction.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for regulatory compliance.
Promote a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement.
To act as a resource and support for the registered Manager and be able to take charge in their absence.
Qualifications
'Deputy Manager' candidates should possess:
Proven management and leadership experience within a nursing or care home setting.
Strong knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, and senior care practices.
Excellent communication and team-building skills.
Ability to develop effective care plans and oversee their implementation.
Relevant qualifications in healthcare or management.
Experience with medication administration and health & safety regulations.
Compassionate approach with a focus on resident-centered care.
Preferred: experience in assisted living or home care environments.
Support the wider staff team, hold regular team meetings and supervisions, completing appraisals to build and maintain a confident and strong team across the home.
Proven ability to make decisions and solve problems and maintain this in the managers absence.
Skills/Abilities
Required:
Proven Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to dementia Alzheimer's and other age-related conditions.
A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful to individuals wishes.
Good communication skills both written and verbal, Ability to communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, Managers, Families and all external professionals.
Commitment to training and development both yours and the team
Ability to write, review and update care plans and risk assessments inline with the changing needs of the service and residents that use this .
Required
:
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting.
Experience of managing/supervising staff.
Minimum of 3 years in a similar setting, ideally with people with dementia.
Experience in writing and updating care plans and risk assessments
Experience of holding difficult conversations and ensuring these are actioned
NVQ level 4/5 or willing to work towards and achieve within a given timescale.

Some on call responsibilities
Ensure all service users personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard and report any requirements to the home Manager.
Communication:
Arrange and participate in staff and service user meetings as and when required.
Marketing:
Actively market the Care home and promote positive personal/professional profile within the local community, always ensuring a good reputation of the Care Home.
Training and Development:
Assist the Home Manager in the induction of new staff members and the provision od in-house training, as delegated to do so.
Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
Attend mandatory training and complete eLearning modules as and when required.
Participate in relevant NVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Carry out any other tasks that maybe reasonably assigned to you
