Main responsibilities
Care
Ensure that all Staff Members contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the Care Centre and the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of the Service Users. Duties may include acting up for the Deputy Home Manager and/or Home Manager in their absence.
Nursing; interact with Service Users to ensure that their health care needs are being met and resolve any problems where appropriate.
Residential: liaise with the District Nurse regarding Service Users health care needs
Report any ill health amongst Service Users and make requests for GP/Professional visits where necessary
Ensure meals are of sufficient and good quality, and that Service Users dietary needs are met
Ensure that the Service Users Care Plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with Service Users, Relatives and other Health Care Professions, and in accordance with NMC guidelines & Company policy
Assess all aspects of Service Users' care needs, and provide health supervision and direct Nursing Care when required
Assess social and health care needs of new Service Users and maintain ongoing assessment and review of all other Service Users
Maintain accurate records and ensure that each Service User within the Care Centre has an individualised Care Plan. Service User Care Plans to be reviewed on a bi-annual basis or more frequently as and when required, in accordance with NM guidelines and Company policy
Carry out regular checks on Service Users at intervals determined by the Home Manager. Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all relevant Staff Members at the end of each shift.
Administer prescribed medicines and document the same in accordance with the Company's procedure and NMC guidelines
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Service Users personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship which exists with Service Users
Communication
Participate in Staff and Service User meetings as required
Maintain effective communications with the Home Manager
Establish and maintain good communication with Service Users, Relatives and with the multidisciplinary team.
Provide administrative support when required
Budgetary/Financial Control
Ensure that all commodities used in and around the Care Centre are sensibly conserved by all Staff Members e.g. monitor usage of incontinence aids, wipes, dressings, electricity, gloves, etc
Human Resources (HR)
Adhere to and implement all HR policies and procedures
In the absence of the Home Manager, in conjunction with the Regional Manager, endeavour to fill any Staff vacancy by advertising in the job centre.
Interview for new Staff Members with the Home Manager as and when required, in line with the Company's Recruitment policy
In the absence of the Home Manager maintain correct records of working hours of all Staff Members
In the absence of the Home Manager monitor and control sickness absence in line with Company policy
Ensure all Staff Members are aware of the Company's Whistle blowing procedure
In the absence of the Home Manager, implement and manage the Company's Discipline and Dismissal policies and procedures, and Grievance policies and procedures in conjunction with the Regional Manager
Assist the Home Manager with formal supervision and appraisal of Staff Members in line with Company policy and with ongoing informal assessment of the work of Staff Members to ensure consistently high standards
In the absence of the Home Manager organise workload by forward planning off duty to ensure that there is sufficient Staff cover and deal with problems where necessary
In the absence of the Administrator and Home Manager ensure continuity of the Payroll

Marketing
Actively market the Care Centre and promote a positive personal/professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Care Centre and Bondcare at all times
In the absence of the Home Manager, and in conjunction with the Regional Manager, endeavour to fill any Service User vacancy by liaising with Social Services and health authorities and assessing/selecting suitable Service Users
Ensure the Care Centre is attractively presented, and odour free, at all times, in line with the Company's attention to detail ph8ilosophy
Ensure a viewing room is suitably presented and available at all times unless Care Centre is fully occupied
Training and Development
Supervise and instruct junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Care Centre giving help and guidance where appropriate
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Keep professionally updated in all areas of clinical expertise
Attend mandatory training days/course, on or off site as and when required
You will be expected from time to time to assist in new staff members induction.
Professional (nursing)
Ensure that the revalidation standards are met:
35 CPD hours in three years is evidenced
450 hours of practice in three years is evidenced
Relevant practice related feedback is evidenced
Written reflection accounts are evidenced
Health and character is evidenced
Professional indemnity cover is evidenced
Confirmation is evidenced by an appropriate confirmer
Health & Safety
Report immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Service Users, colleague, self or another
Understand, and ensure the implementation of the Care Centres Health & Safety policy and Emergency and Fire procedures
Report to the Home Manager, Handyperson or Person in Charge any faulty appliances, damaged furniture equipment or any potential hazard
Promote safe working practice in the Care Centre
In the absence of the Home Manager, carry out duties as 'Responsible Officer' for the Care Centre in line with CQC guidelines, the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and Fire Regulations.
Infection Control
It is your responsibility to read and understand the homes Infection control Policy and to ask questions that you may not understand?
Complete the homes Infection Control Training
Report any infection control issues immediately to your Home Manager, alert your person in charge.
Share your knowledge and understanding of Infection Control with your work Colleagues to ensure the safety of all staff, visitors and residents.
Safeguarding
It is every staff members responsibility to ensure that they have read and understood the homes Safeguarding Policy, and to ask questions for any areas they do not understand.
Every staff member must complete the homes Safeguarding training
Staff have an obligation to all residents to report any incidents that they feel may be a safeguarding issue to their manager or senior staff.
It is every staffs responsibility to know the process for reporting safeguarding concerns to the local safeguarding teams, Contact numbers for this should be found posted around your home, if you cannot find them it is your responsibility to ask.
General
Adhere to all appropriate NMC guidelines/regulations and the General Social Care Council Code of Conduct
Ensure that all existing stocks are maintained in a safe and tidy environment and reorder as and when required
Be on call for emergencies which may arise with the Care Centre and to cover shifts if all other avenues have been exhausted
In the absence of the Home Manager report directly to the Regional Manager
Support and Assist the Home Manager in auditing Care Plan documentation to ensure best practice
Maintain all logbooks and records as required by both the Registering Authority and the Company
Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
Assist in the arrangements for fund raising
Notify the Home Manager or Person in Charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also on your return to work from all periods of absence
Ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales
Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
