WHAT TO EXPECT

We are looking for a Cell Engineer to support Lithium-ion cell Design & Process Validation and analysis.

The role is part of the Cell Team in Powertrain Engineering. This is a diverse team with a range of backgrounds including chemistry, engineering & modelling. The team work on all levels of cell maturity including concept, programme delivery & quality.

Cell validation allows us to benchmark technologies as well as assess that the cells are suitable for use in vehicles and meet our targets. The role will include working closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Support in the planning and execution of Lithium-ion cell Design and Process Validation delivering against project milestones
  • Analysis of cell performance and durability data (storage ageing / cycle life)
  • Development of new test methods
  • Perform benchmarking studies comparing technologies and their suitability for us in our EVs
  • Authoring of test procedures and standards
  • Leverage the \'High Value Manufacturing\' Catapult collaboration with academia and Subject Matter Experts
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

The ideal candidate will have a customer first mindset, an open communicator with the ability to convey and deliver complex operational ideas in a highly demanding environment. You will be able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Fundamental understanding of lithium-ion cell working principles
  • Experience of battery cell data analysis (short- and long-term testing)
  • Advanced Excel & MATLAB skills
  • Chemistry or Engineering background at degree level or higher (preferably electrochemistry)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Team player
