Job Description

Main purpose:

The role of each Centre Director is to ensure the very best learning, teaching and working environment for our learners, tutors, and centre staff. The Centre Director is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and facilities at the training centre, to ensure all those who come on site have the very best experience.

The Centre Director is the location lead for supporting and enhancing the relationships with our local partners such as employers / contractors, developers, community groups, local government, local job centres, and other partners / supporters of The Skills Centre; helping to embed and deliver stakeholder-based and community-based KPIs.

To oversee all training in all business services within the centre, and to ensure timely completion of all contractual KPIs across the business.

Management of all associated centre staff.

Primary responsibilities:

1.Centre Direction:
Learning environment - create a vibrant and engaging learning environment that encourages participation and enthusiasm, including implementing new ideas to enhance the overall experience for our trainees.

Customer services - Responsible for the overall customer services experience at the TSC Centre and implementation of improvement strategies where required.

Space utilisation / Directorship - responsible for communication with internal an external stakeholders for site locations, internal and external delivery space, updates and changes.

Facilities services / Directorship - responsible for monitoring / management of the maintenance and good working order of all site facilities, utilities, and services.

Health & safety and safeguarding - working closely with the Group's Health & Safety Officer and Safeguarding Lead to ensure the Centre is run in full compliance with our own and other legal health & safety and safeguarding requirements / polices.

Stakeholder / partnership engagement - being the Centre's main point of contact for all external stakeholders, addressing their needs and concerns.

Resource Directorship - ensuring that instructors / tutors have the necessary resources and support to deliver high-quality training and collaborating with stakeholders to secure funding and resources for the training centre.

Customer feedback - ensuring robust feedback mechanisms for all learners and staff to help with effective monitoring / evaluation of our training programmes and making recommendations for future improvements where appropriate.

Budgetary management - ensuring good control of the centre budget.

Centre promotions - working with Marketing and others on local initiatives to inspire the community and promote construction as a worthwhile, rewarding and sustainable career.

People - managing and leading all staff at the Centre to ensure all the above is achieved through a team that is proactive and delivers customer-centred values and behaviours, consistently.

Reporting - reporting regularly on all the above activities at a high standard with analytic performance driven through the associated systems and CRM.

Industry Standards - To meet all relevant industry standards and implement into practical activities and curriculum.

Business Development - Strong focus on driving new business into the centres to increase work placements and Job opportunities for students.

KPIs - Ensure all business and contractual KPIs set timely and efficiently.

2. The community and local partnership development:
Strategic Partners - helping to manage, support and deliver the overall partnership strategies required at the Centre and establish effective communication channels with key stakeholders.

Promoting diversity and inclusion - promoting and reporting on the diversity and inclusion strategy in line with both a) partner and stakeholder requirements (KPIs), and b) sustainability, social impact and economic development plans.

Local community - being the local lead for community engagement with community networks, sub-communities and less formal networks through a programme of communications / promotions, networking, hosting events, out-reach visits, talks, etc., which collectively engages local people within their communities.

Local employers - helping to maintain strong relationships with construction industry employers to understand their ongoing needs and to facilitate apprenticeships, internships, and job placements for trainees.

Key experience, knowledge and skills:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

Experience of facilities management and the implementation of improvement plans.

Strong experience within the construction sector and hold existing relationships within the sector to support work placements and centre job opportunities

A trade background and management background construction sector.

Have existing relationships with local contractors and suppliers

Experience of leading exceptional customer services.

Good working knowledge of quality improvement systems and techniques.

Experience of budget management and financial controls.

Experience of working in an environment with complex safeguarding and wellbeing needs.

Experience of delivering KPIs that meet the needs of a range of partners and stakeholders.

Ability to provide robust monitoring / performance reports covering KPIs for all the management areas detailed above and be able to confidently present findings / recommendations to a range of partners and stakeholders.

Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate effectively at various levels.

Empathetic, and can support the team around them to ensure high performance and a conducive working environment for all.

Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple activities, and delegate tasks effectively.

Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.

Critical thinking skills: can adapt to changing circumstances and new challenges, and the ability to identify issues and develop solutions.

Strong decision making and the ability to make informed decisions about use of resources.

Good IT skills and the ability to trouble-shoot basic technical issues. Has the ability to produce and present regular monitoring reports.

Knowledge of apprenticeship and AEB systems, legislation and regulations, together with a working knowledge of post-secondary education.

Desirable

Good working knowledge and understanding of the construction industry.

Experience of working within and managing an exceptional learning environment.

Experience of working with and engaging local communities, including supporting young people and people from challenging backgrounds.

Qualifications required:

ILM or equivalent management qualification (related substantial experience will be considered).

Trade / construction related qualifications.
