The Scottish Pelagic Fishermen's Association (SPFA) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer Designate to lead one of the UK's most strategically important fisheries organisations. Representing 22 member vessels across Scotland and Northern Ireland, SPFA plays a central role in shaping fisheries policy, promoting sustainability, and safeguarding the future of pelagic fishing.
This appointment comes at a pivotal moment in the Association's 94-year history. The successful candidate will work alongside the current CEO for a phased handover over 12-24 months, ensuring continuity and strategic alignment.
We are seeking a senior leader with:
- Proven experience in business operations and organisational leadership.
- A strong understanding of government structures and policy formulation at Scottish, UK, and international levels.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including media handling.
- The ability to navigate complex regulatory and environmental challenges, including marine spatial planning and sustainability.
- A collaborative approach to working with industry bodies, government, and scientific partners.
