Charity Manager
for the RSPCA Chiltern Branch. This is an exciting and rewarding role where you'll be at the heart of improving animal welfare while engaging and inspiring your community.
?About the Role?
As the
Charity Manager
, you will play a key role in overseeing the operations of the RSPCA Chiltern Branch and its Charity Shop. Working closely with the Branch Trustees and the Animal Care Coordinator, you'll help shape the future of animal welfare in the area. Your leadership, organisation, and people skills will help us grow local engagement, secure vital funding, and support our mission to protect animals from cruelty and neglect.
?Key Responsibilities?
General Management
Oversee daily operations of the Charity Shop, including staff management and Health & Safety compliance.
Recruit, train, appraise, and support staff and volunteers.
Lead on the recruitment of new
trustees
,
volunteers
, and
foster carers
.
Source, apply for, and manage charitable grants.
Organise and attend local fundraising and PR events throughout the year.
Maintain accurate administration and reporting duties for the Trustees.
Attend and present updates at monthly Trustee meetings (evenings).
Keep social media and digital platforms up to date with engaging content.
Promote and maintain compliance with RSPCA and legal policies, procedures, and Health & Safety regulations.
Identify training needs and bring recommendations to the Trustees.
Support the development of local volunteer fundraising groups.
Lead a future initiative to create and deliver an
animal welfare awareness programme for primary school children
(DBS check required).
Communication
Maintain strong communication with all Branch staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Liaise effectively with the regional and national RSPCA teams.
Act as the public face of the Chiltern Branch - managing PR, media, and online presence to promote a positive image.
Coordinate outreach: including school talks, guest speaker events, and visits to/from community groups.
Health & Safety
Ensure all activities and premises comply with relevant safety legislation:
Health & Safety at Work Act
COSHH regulations
Fire Safety and Electrical Testing (PAT)
First Aid and Accident Prevention
Ensure staff are trained in Health & Safety protocols and relevant signage is displayed.
? What We're Looking For
Fundraising experience
, including event planning and management.
Computer
literacy

- confident in Microsoft Office, poster creation, admin, reporting, and social media.
Excellent
written and verbal communication
skills.
Self-motivated and proactive - able to work independently and within a team.
Confident in recruiting and managing people.
An
animal lover and people person
who is physically fit and active.
Clean driving licence
and access to transport for travel across Bucks & Herts.
Experience with community outreach and school engagement is a plus.
