2nd Chef - The Hen and Chicken, Bristol

The Hen and Chicken, located in the heart of a vibrant residential area in Bristol, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team. We are busiest in the evenings and on weekends, serving a variety of guests for events, live shows, and casual dining. With a capacity of 50-90 in our party room and 200 in our upstairs Studio (for live comedy, music, and talks), pre-show dining in our main bar is a key part of our service.

Please note this position cannot consider overseas applications. Succesful applicants must be located in South Bristol

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook dishes from our predominantly grill-style menu, alongside stone-baked pizzas and roasts on Sundays.

Work with high-quality local suppliers, using fresh ingredients to create dishes from scratch.

Ensure smooth, efficient service, especially during busy evenings and weekends.

Assist in menu development by introducing evolving dishes monthly, keeping offerings fresh and exciting.

Maintain our high standards for Sunday roast and party buffet services.

Uphold kitchen safety, hygiene standards, and food quality control.

Supervision of Kitchen Porter / close of kitchen at the end of service when required

Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent communication and fast-paced, high-quality service.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Chef in a busy kitchen.

Strong knowledge of grill and pizza preparation.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and ensure consistent food quality.

Passion for fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and creating dishes from scratch.

Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends (fixed working days: Wednesday to Sunday).
