Nyton House Residential Care Home is seeking a Chef to join our team.

Our independent, family-owned Care Home has been providing care in the Chichester area for over 45 years. We have an outstanding reputation built on high standards of care, a beautiful rural setting and exceptional food.

We seek a passionate individual who is motivated by seeing the happiness their food brings. They should show a keen interest in the preparation, presentation and nutritional value of food in a Care setting and how this can positively impact the health and wellbeing of our residents. They must love working as part of a team.

A good knowledge of delivering a dysphagia menu is essential to the role.

The successful candidate will support another chef working in a job-share role in order to provide exceptional catering 7 days a week. The Home is committed to providing a special menu prepared daily from raw ingredients. Irrespective of disability, they offer colourful, tasty, elegantly presented, exciting food.

Primary Responsibilities, Tasks and Duties



Seasonal Menu development including adaptations to the menu to support Dysphagia Diet, High Cal, Low sugar and High Fibre diets

Prepare Restaurant quality food for 40 residents (4-days in seven) using local source ingredients and produce.

Oversee all ordering and undertake regular quality and budgetary reviews for all suppliers.

Retain 5-start Foof Hygiene rating but overseeing cleaning rotas, stock management, temperature control and record keeping.

Maintain a rapport with residents and proactively seek feedback to improve offering.

Maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with Care Staff

Skills/Knowledge



Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery and Health and Safety.

Food Hygiene Certificates (minimum level 2) are essential.

Good knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning and a proven ability to cater for specific dietary needs.

Effective communication skills.
