We aim to bring together flavours from both culinary traditions and deliver an exceptional dining experience to our guests.We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our culinary team one The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and preparation, with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality while delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests. Responsibilities



As a Chef / Cook at Pamuzinda, you will:

Plan, prepare and cook Zimbabwean dishes (e.g. sadza, stews, traditional sides) Prepare and cook English cuisine, especially Sunday roasts, grilled meats, vegetables, sauces and sides Assist in menu development, including specials and seasonal dishes Manage food preparation timings to ensure all dishes arrive fresh & on time Control portion sizes, food costs, waste, and stock rotation Supervise and coordinate junior kitchen staff or kitchen assistants Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas Receive deliveries, inspect quality, and manage storage of ingredients Work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and service. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, adhering to recipes and presentation standards. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance. Manage food inventory, ordering supplies as necessary while minimising waste. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen. Collaborate with management to develop seasonal menus that reflect current trends and customer preferences. Train new kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation, and safety protocols. Foster a positive team environment that encourages creativity and collaboration.

Experience



Proven experience in a professional kitchen (at least 1-2 years) Experience cooking both African/Zimbabwean cuisine andclassic English dishes or willingness to learn Knowledge of standard cooking methods, sauces, roasting, grilling, etc. Food Hygiene / Food Safety certification (e.g. Level 2) Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure Good communication skills and ability to work in a team Flexibility -- willing to cover evenings, weekends, bank holidays as needed

Desirable:



Formal culinary qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent) Experience managing a kitchen station or supervising others Knowledge of Zimbabwean ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques Understanding of cost control, supplier relationships, and menu costing Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar culinary role within the hospitality or restaurant industry. Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising or managing a team.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.00-18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
